Percy Jackson And The Olympians, The Lightning Thief: The Book


This book was released on June 28, 2005. Percy Jackson is the main character of the book. He's a twelve-year-old boy suffering from dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Despite his physical condition, Percy lives a normal human life, but after a field trip and after being attacked by his math teacher, he doesn't only discover that the creatures of Greek mythology exist, but he discovers that he's the son of Poseidon, god of the seas, one of the three main gods of Olympus, which is now located at the mysterious "600th floor" of the Empire State Building. Because he is the son of the sea god, Percy is sent on a camp for demigods. There, he meets other demigods, some good, some bad, but all of them in the process of discovering and growing their surnatural abilities, inherited from their parents of the world of gods. Along the adventures of Percy, his mother goes missing. He will later find out that she was held hostage in the underworld. Also, the thunderbolt of Zeus gets stolen, and Percy is the main suspect. Although Percy isn't guilty of the act, he is given ten days to return the bolt to Zeus in order to keep a war from starting between the gods, and in the same time he has to find his missing mother.
